Pre K-3
We will begin this year learning how to greet each other in friendly ways and ask for things nicely. Studying the Mexican terrain, we will learn names for all of the creatures you might bump into during a journey through the country. Our journey will take us to hearing and reenacting the myths and many legends of the great Queztacoatl- The Feathered Serpent King, known to both the Mayans and the Aztecs as a god known for his good will and justness!
Pre K-4
We are going to jump right into Spanish this year, learning through song, dance, and action our "Hellos" and "Goodbyes," our "Pleases" and "Thank yous." We will study transportation and the importance of maps in Old Spain during the times of the Conquistadors. Get ready to become full-fledged explorers!
Kindergarten
We will start the year off learning our basic greetings through song and dance. Once we have mastered these skills, we will learn how to explain our likes and dislikes. We will then begin a unit on the Amazon and learn all about the many species that lurk under the canopy...
1st Grade
We begin the fall through listening as a means of learning. Focus on language through music will help us when the time comes for us to compose our very own Spanish songs using
the vocabulary we have learned!
2nd Grade
Learning to read, as we all know, is incredibly important. The second grade will start this year off, learning all about the pronunciation of the Spanish alphabet. This will increase their oral skills, and improve their spelling. We are going to hop right into word and sound recognition in preparation for the mastery of the Spanish accent. Stay tuned for our cultural exploration of the Moorish Fortress Alhambra and the surprise that awaits!
3rd Grade
We will focus on our oral Spanish skills, learning the proper pronunciation of each letter of the alphabet, which will come in handy when we begin reading aloud to one another! During this time, we will also do an investigation into the many cultures men and women from Europe learned about when they discovered the New World.
7th Grade Learning Skills
"To be or not to be?"- Hamlet by William Shakespeare
This year will start off with a review of the basics learned last year. We will then spend time learning how to use the two forms of "to be." We will begin our cultural study of the Spanish speaking world with small oral reports on various Central and South American artists and celebrities!
8th Grade Learning Skills
Our mission in the coming weeks is to acquire an understanding of gender in definite articles: "el, la, las, y los."
